Why start with the Big Book
The Big Book is the foundational work of A.A., first published in 1939. It sets out the recovery program and dozens of real stories of people who achieved lasting sobriety. Together with the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, it is the basis of what we share in every meeting. To understand the background, visit What is Alcoholics Anonymous?
